Choosing order over chaos is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. It is one of the main ways I practice self-care. Worrying about money, losing an important document, or being late on one of my bills is not fun. In fact, it is down right stressful and leaves me feeling anxious, embarrassed, and exhausted. So, since I don’t like that feeling I made a commitment to myself to stay on top of clutter, especially paper clutter. I have found that when I organize anything that needs sorting or decluttering, I instantly remove unnecessary stress from my heart and mind and I instantly feel calm, energized, and ready to go to work on a new graphic design project! It is a great feeling and I’m convinced it keeps me young and healthy, and motivated to dream, design, and declare my bigger goals and dreams!
Sure, I l believe exercise is a good stress reliever and going to a spa and having my nails done, or treating myself to a relaxing facial now and then, but honestly there is nothing like the feeling of having everything in order in your home or office and being able to get your hands on a particular document, on a minutes notice. I love the confident feeling I get knowing my bills are paid on time, and that the IRS and/or creditors are not knocking at my door. I love that I am saving money when I don’t buy duplicates of something I already have in my closet, pantry or office supplies. I love that I have more quality time to spend with my husband. I love that it creates extra time for me to design logos, websites and social media boards for myself and my clients. This is how my business was born!
I have coached clients through a number of different stress events in life that has thrown them into a deep depression or paralyzes such as: a sudden death of a spouse, a divorce, a death of an elderly parent, a sudden illness or like most recently a pandemic. All these events can cause any of us to have to go looking for important documents, pictures, and other valuable items. These events can force you to move quickly into projects such as: changing jobs, planning a move, unpacking from a move, or clearing away paper clutter from your home office. Not all, but some of these events will eventually happen to all of us and being organized and clutter-free will help you go through them a whole lot easier.
Fortunately for me, I absolutely love the whole process of decluttering, paring down, categorizing, containing, rearranging, and finding a new and better system to simplify a space, a paper file, a digital file, or a desk drawer. It is the most fantastic addiction that comes with awesome benefits! I hope you will begin to embrace the process of organization and be a blessing to yourself, to those around you and to your clients.
If you will embrace this process of decluttering your space, you will turn on the center in your brain that will begin the creative energy of new ideas, new dreams, new hopes, new goals, a new blog post, a new instagram or Pinterest post, a new website design, a new marketing approach, a new way of doing things to inspire you and your readers. There is no limit to what you can create when your mind and space is uncluttered from chaos and in a state of total peace and rest.
I believe if you take just one month to declutter your space and your life you will create a dream that will thrust you into a profitable business.
I hope this challenges you to think about the endless possibilities that awaits you!
with love & grace
